The Allen Parish Library’s Director Agnes Guillory said there were lots of programs available through the library at the April school board meeting. She encouraged the public to participate by visiting one of its sites in Oberlin, Kinder or Oakdale. Parish residents can also find event notices and other programs on the library’s website and/or Facebook™ page. Many programs, both past and present, are posted on YouTube™.
The library offers a variety of adult-related programs and has teamed up with the LSU AgCenter. The library recently sponsored a class on using the Instapot and pressure cooking with its program, “Building a Healthy Meal: Pressure Cooker Gumbo.” A craft class in June taught participants how to make coasters.
Adult Bingo will be Thursday, July 1, from 5-7 p.m. at each of the library branch sites. Space is limited, so interested persons should call to register. A virtual class, “Cajun French with Chris Thomas” is scheduled for Thursday, July 18, at 8 a.m. on Facebook™.
Teen programs like “Bracelet Beading Craft” will be held Thursday, July 8, at 1 p.m. at all three branches. However space is limited, so you must call to register.
On Facebook™, a virtual teen program, “Air Fryer Cooking Class” will be held Thursday, July 1, at 8 a.m. Programs like “Reverse Tie Dye was held June 17, and teen painting on June 24.
For the younger children, there is the ongoing summer reading program, “Tails and Tales,” already in its fifth week. The virtual program for Week Five (June 29, to July 1) can be found on Facebook and YouTube. A virtual program, “Pirate Goodie and the Magic Chest” will be held July 6, on Facebook™ at 8 a.m. Geebo the Clown is coming to the Oberlin site on Tuesday, July 13, at 8 a.m.

All borrowed titles will automatically be returned when the lending period is over.
