Allen Parish leaders introduced a new system to the parish at the police jury meeting this week that had support from various officials all over the parish both professional and personal. The GIS system’s website is now available to the public. It can be utilized as a tool for several different reasons in gathering information the public requires in day-to-day operations. This system brings the tools to locals’ fingertips and will save many a trip to the courthouse.
In other business, the finance committee made the following requests, all of which were approved:
•Approved to pay XL Specialty Insurance Company $11,957 for insurance on equipment.
•Approved to pay Homeland Safety Systems $3,762.22 for annual contract with the jury.
•Approved to pay Carlton Construction $7,951 for repairs to the administration’s building.
•Approved to pay Carlton Construction $7,751 for repairs at the courthouse.
The road committee also made the following requests, which were approved:
•Approved a JSA agreement with the City of Oakdale for grass cutting, pothole patching and trash pick-up for the month of June 2021.
The inmate report was read and the budget for the month was $257,300. The expenses for the month were $254,268.24. This brought the fund to $3,031.76 which was under budget for the month and $46,289.87 under budget for the year. There were 66 inmates, 13 in the department of corrections and 100 federal inmates as of Monday, June 7.
Also at the meeting, the jury:
•Approved hiring Tammy Johnson part time at the courthouse, contingent upon meeting hiring requirements.
•Approved the Southwest Louisiana Crime Lab’s annual budget.
•Approved to adopt a resolution to canvas the election returns held on April 24, 2021.
•Approved the 2021 Millage rates.
•Approved to adopt a finance and public works specific pay scale.
•Approved to adopt a 2022 equipment budget.
•Approved to accept the resignation of Jacob Lacour from the Allen Parish Fire District Four board.
•Approved to appoint Eric Kuyper to finish out the term vacated on the Fire District Four board.
•Approved to accept the resignation of Mark Pender from the Oakdale Recreation District One board.
•Approved to appoint Steve Richard to the Oakdale Recreation District One board.
•Approved to accept the resignation of Patrick Hayes from the Southwest Allen Parish Water District.
•Approved to appoint Dylan Riley to finish the term vacated on the Southwest Allen Parish Water District.
•Approved to accept the resignation of Jimmie Hughes and Stacy Weldon from the Elizabeth Recreation District Number Three board.
•Approved to appoint Jimmy Melder and Evan Earl to complete the terms vacated on the Elizabeth Recreation District Number Three board.
