Voters in Allen Parish renewed all of the propositions on Saturday’s ballot, April 24.
The following propositions were on the ballot:
•Law Enforcement District – 6.47 mills renewal for the sheriff’s office for 10 years was approved by 73 percent of the ballots cast (1,018 yes votes to 380 no votes). This continuation will be from 2022 to 2031 and provides additional funding for law enforcement.
•Parishwide Mosquito Proposition – 8 mills renewal for 10 years was approved by 82 percent (1,144 yes votes to 256 no votes). This continuation will be from 2022 to 2031 and allows for the purpose of acquiring, purchasing, maintaining and operating machinery, facilities, equipment and materials necessary or useful in the eradication, abatement or control of mosquitoes and other arthropods of public health importance.
•Road District No. 1 – 11.86 mills continuation for 10 years for police jury was approved by 67 percent (163 yes votes to 80 no votes). Millages collected from 2022 to 2031 will be used to construct, operate and maintain parish roads and bridges within the district.
•Road District No. 2 Prop No. 1 of 2 – 11.32 mills continuation for 10 years for police jury was approved by 77 percent (286 yes votes to 86 no votes). From 2022 to 2031, this millage will be used to construct, improve and maintain parish roads with the district.
•Road District No. 2 Prop No. 2 of 2 – 5.66 mills continuation for 10 years for police jury was approved by 77 percent (284 yes votes to 87 no votes). From 2022 to 2031, the jury will use this millage to construct, operate and maintain parish bridges within this district.
•Road District No. 3 – 10.89 mills continuation for 10 years for police jury was approved by 71 percent (82 yes votes to 33 no votes). From 2022 to 2031, these monies will be used for the purpose of constructing, operating and maintaining parish roads and bridges within the district.
•Recreation District No. 6 – 5.50 mills continuation for 10 years was approved by 66 percent (76 yes votes to 39 no votes). This tax will be utilized from 2023 to 2031 for the purpose of maintaining, operating and improving recreational facilities.
