Reverend Aaron Taylor celebrated 22 years of preaching sermons and taking care of the congregation at Shiloh Baptist Church in Pine Prairie both spiritually, mentally and physically. On Sunday, February 28, his congregation celebrated those years of service with a special ceremony.
For the day, members held a small service, shared it live on Facebook™ and gave a love offering to Taylor. They also hosted a dinner after the service. Taylor was presented with a sweater and shoes along with the love offering.
Brother Travon Jones, who serves as head Deacon in the church, explained his message to Taylor were based on First Timothy, Chapter Five, Verses 17 to 22. He said the passage centers around Paul telling Timothy how important it was treat one’s pastor/preacher because he is worthy.
“He takes care of us – so many problems before they are even in the open,” Jones said. Part of the message also centered on when accusations are made again one’s pastor. “Before you believe in the accusation, you have to have three witnesses.” Jones said that has never happened against Taylor.
Jones said they celebrated how much the Shiloh congregation loves Taylor and how much Taylor loves the congregation. He said Taylor also told the congregation present he was glad that he was apart of the church and there was not other place he wanted to be.
“He thanked God for allowing him to lead us in our Christian walk, Jones said.
Taylor is the second longest tenure pastor at the church. The longest pastor at the church served 25 years.
“We are so blessed he is our pastor, and he decided to stick with us all these years. We love Pastor Taylor. He’s a real blessing. He teaches us. He’s totally dedicated to Shiloh. He gives his all to the church, and we all love him.”
