The Kinder Section 8 Housing Program is accepting applications for HUD vouchers until March. The first 100 applications will be accepted.
Holly Smith, executive director of the agency in Kinder, said her office, which is in Kinder City Hall, is open every other week. Hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and the schedule is listed on the door of her office.
This program provides vouchers for low income families to help with rental assistance. Guidelines are in place, and every situation is different, according to Smith. She encouraged those in need to please complete an application. She said income limitations and other factors are considered when distributing vouchers. People may qualify for the program because they meet one or more of the guidelines like income levels, childcare expenses, etc.
Applicants must complete an applicant, which are located in her office. They will need birth certificates, social security numbers and proof of income for everyone in the household.
When she is in the office, she can be reached at 337-738-5513. On alternate weeks, residents can call 318-251-9867.
