Allen Parish residents are reminded of safety measures especially during Halloween. Residents wishing to participate will leave a porch light on, and those who choose not to participate, should turn off outside lights. Remember to follow Covid-19 safety guidelines.
Oakdale
Oakdale has changed its Halloween activites to be more COVID friendly.
A post made to the City of Oakdale’s Facebook page by Oakdale Mayor Gene Paul stated, “After careful consideration of the health and well-being of our community, myself (Mayor Paul) and other city officials regretfully have made the decision to cancel any city-sponsored Halloween trick-or-treating events. This decision was made after considering the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, and the new guidelines from our government that suggest it’s a high-risk behavior for spreading coronavirus. We understand 2020 has been very frustrating for everyone, however, our citizens’ safety is our number one concern.
Door-to-door trick-or-treating and/or trunk-or-treating will be allowed from 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. Saturday, October 31, and limited to ages 14-years-old and younger.
Oakdale Community Hospital is hosting a trick-or-treating event on Thursday, the 29, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the hospital parking lot. Social distancing will be enforced and masks are required.
Oakdale Pentecostal Church will be hosting a Trunk or Treat in their church parking lot on Saturday, October 24, from 5-7 p.m. This will take place of their annual fall festival.
Elizabeth
The Village of Elizabeth is having ‘Trick-or-Treating’ on October 31, from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. (walking or hayrides only) no vehicles or ATVs. They ask that you only do door to door or set up a booth in town. Please register your booth through city hall, for free. If you are participating in trick-or-treating please leave your porch light on. Officials are asking that you wear a mask and practice social distancing. The annual hayride is cancelled.
Indian Creek
Indian Creek is planning to host their regular annual Halloween festivites. Trick or treating will be held 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, October 31.
Oberlin
The council set town Halloween for Saturday, October 31, from 5 to 7 p.m. Police Chief Grady K. Haynes said they would be patrolling. They are also requesting that everyone practice safe trick-or-treating and follow all COVID guidelines in accordance with phase three.
Kinder
Mayor Wayland Lafargue announced the community would observe Halloween Saturday, October 31, from 5 to 7 p.m. He encouraged all to respect neighbors who choose not to participate due to Covid-19. He also reminded everyone to follow safety guidelines.

to give candy
The Allen Parish Community Healthcare, 108 Sixth Ave., Kinder, will conduct its annual Trunk or Treat from 5 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, October 31.
Grand Church
The Grand Church of Kinder will host its Harvest Fest Oct. 31, from 5 to 7 p.m. There will be games, a petting zoo, pony rides, a maze, hay rides and fun jumps. Participants will enjoy candy, free burgers or hot dogs with a drink and funnel cake while supplies last.
Reeves
The Village of Reeves will celebrate Halloween from on Saturday, Oct. 31, 5 to 8 p.m. according to Mayor Chris Guillory.
St. Joan of Arc
St. Joan of Arc in Oberlin will host Trick or Treat and a Jambalaya Dinner Saturday, October 31, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The family is invited. Jambalaya bowls will be sold for $5. Parishioners are encouraged to decorate a table on the porch of the church hall to hand out candy and trinkets to the children. You can even dress up to match your decorations.
