The Allen Parish Police Jury held a public hearing to lower the speed limit on Sunrise Drive, Sunset Drive, Executive Drive and Moonlight Drive in Kinder from 45 mph to 15 mph. No one from the public was present to speak. The ordinance was adopted.
Jurors approved to advertise for bids for the building repairs for parish buildings damaged by Hurricane Laura. They are wanting to get a single contract for all the repairs. This will streamline the FEMA repayment process.
The jury approved recommendations from committees.
The finance committee recommended:
•Approve to pay Doggett Machinery $3,771.27 for a door for Ward four backhoe to be paid from the solid waste department.
•Approve to pay Donald Perkins $2,150 to repair dump truck, tractor and back hoe for Ward one.
•Approve to pay Simmons Tractor and Hardware $1,630.46 to repair a tractor for road district one.
The road committee recommended:
•Approve a joint service agreement with the City of Oakdale for grass cutting, pothole patching and trash pick up for the month of October 2020.
Fred Ryder was appointed to the Bayou Blue Drainage Board for a five-year term.
Margie Nell Turner was reappointed to the Northwest Allen Water Board for a five-year term.
The inmate housing report was read. The budget for the month was $17,300. The expenses for the month were $15,237.44. This was under budget for the month by $2,062.56 and under budget for the year by $55,629.67.
There were 42 parish inmates, 11 department of corrections inmates and 40 federal inmates.
