Early voting is underway for the August 15, 2020 election featuring two renewal millages.
On Monday afternoon, seven people had cast their vote for the upcoming election, according to Registrar of Voters Monica F. Warren.
Early voting began Saturday, July 25, and will continue until Saturday, August 8, except on Sundays. The registrar’s office closed Sunday, July 26, and will close on Sunday, August 2.
This ballot will include renewal millages for Recreation District One in Kinder and Road District Two in Oakdale.
Voters will decide to support the following:
•Recreation District No. 1 Proposition: Shall Recreation District No. 1 of the Parish of Allen, State of Louisiana (Oakdale) (the “District”), be authorized to continue to levy and collect a tax of three and ten-hundredths (3.10) mills (the estimated amount reasonably expected to be collected from the levy of said tax for one entire year being $181,000) on all the property subject to taxation in the District for a period of ten (10) years, beginning with the year 2022 and ending with the year 2031, for the purpose of acquiring, constructing, maintaining and operating recreational facilities for said District, including the acquisition of equipment therefor?
•Road District No. 2 Proposition: Shall Road District No. 2 of the Parish of Allen, State of Louisiana (the “District”), continue to levy a seven and forty-eight hundredths (7.48) mills property tax on all the property subject to taxation within the District (an estimated $221,000 reasonably expected at this time to be collected from the levy of the tax for an entire year), for a period of ten (10) years, beginning with the year 2021 and ending with the year 2030, for the purpose of constructing, improving and maintaining Parish roads and bridges within the District?
