Early voting for the 2020 Presidential Preference Primary ended Saturday, July 4, at 6 p.m. in Louisiana.
Allen Parish Registrar of Voters Monica F. Warren said the parish had a total of 228 people cast their ballots at the courthouse. Her office had received 223 ballots through the mail as of Tuesday morning and were still accepting mail-in ballots through the week.
The 2020 Presidential Preference Primary election is Saturday, July 11. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. This election is held for Democrats and Republicans to cast their ballot for each party’s presidential candidate in the presidential election to be held November 3.
Warren said those who don’t want to make the trip to the courthouse due to COVID-19 can visit Secretary of State Kyle Ardoin’s website at https://www.sos.la.gov. There is an application for voters to complete at the top of the page by hitting the button for COVID-19. Warren said voters can apply for this process for elections to be held in July and August at this time. She does not know if the option will be extended. This feature was added to the state’s website in accordance with the Secretary of State’s Emergency Plan, approved by the governor and the Louisiana Legislature on Monday, April 27, 2020.
“It’s at the top of the page,” Warren said. “There’s a video on how to complete the form.”
