The Allen Parish Police Jury met via Zoom due to the recent rise in COVID-19 cases.
During the short meeting the APPJ took care of several agenda items including several resignations and added an item to declare the Arizona Chemical Plant property to be surplus.
The property being declared surplus does not mean the jury has to sell it. This move simply allows the jury to negotiate with any interested parties.
The jury accepted the resignation of Ray Rush from the Water Works District No. One and appointed Bill Randolph to complete his term.
The jury accepted the resignation of Nancy Burleigh form the Allen Parish Hospital District Board. No appointment was made to replace her at this time.
The jury also accepted the resignation of Ruffin George III and Rhonda Beard from the Recreation District No. One Board and appointed Steven Richard and Greg Strother to finish the term.
The jury accepted the resignation of Jeremy Walker and Jeff Doucet from the Recreation District Two Board and appointed Ronald January and Kenneth Kingrey to finish the term.
A public hearing was called to reduce the speed limit on Oberlin roads -Braxton Road, Williams Road and McMahon Road to 15 mph. It will be for the meeting held on Monday, August 3, at 6:30.
The Finance Committee made several requests all of which were approved:
•Approve to purchase a riding mower for $2,300 from Tractor Supply to maintain the Ward Five Solid Waste yard.
•Approve to pay Cotton’s Heating & Cooling $7,525 for an AC unit for the LSU Ag Ext Office.
•Approve to pay Basic Supply $2,190.64 for the installation of the Courthouse Sewer Lift Station.
•Approve to purchase turbo & injectors for $4,336.62 for a Kubota tractor for road district one.
•Approve to pay Air Compressors Direct $2,749.99 for a truck mount air compressor for road district five.
•Approve to purchase a new trailer from C. F’s Welding Service for $9,995.00 for road district four.
•Approve to pay Oberlin Building Supply $2,025.32 for flooring materials for the LSU Ag Building.
The Road Committee made several requests all of which were approved.
•Approve a JSA with the City of Oakdale for grass cutting, pothole patching and trash pick up for the month of July 2020.
•Approve a JSA with the Town of Kinder to boom axe between 14th and 15th Street.
