The Kinder Council quickly took care of business Monday night after having to postpone its April meeting due to the governor’s stay-at-home orders.
The council had previously met March 2, its regularly scheduled meeting, and again on March 19, in a special meeting. Minutes for those meetings were approved by those present. (C.J. Fontenot and Angie Van Norman were not in attendance.)
The council had approved an alcoholic beverage license application provided the applicant had all paperwork in order. The owner decided to change the business’ name to El Maguey Mexican Grill on U.S. Highway 165. Because of the name change and other paperwork required, the owner was asked to reapply for his liquor license to make sure everything was legal. The owner fulfilled the request and his liquor license was approved in a 2-to-1 motion with Latoya Tunwar voting against it.
In other business, Councilman Chris Fontenot introduced ordinances to amend the budget for the fiscal year of 2019/2020 as well as introduce the next fiscal year’s budget. At the next meeting these items will be discussed and considered for approval.
The next meeting will be Monday, June 1.
