Allen Parish School Board announced on Friday, April 17, they delivered 1,040 meal kits from Preferred Foods on April 9. Due to the overwhelming orders placed by school districts APSB is no longer going to be able to provide meals. They have partnered with Healthy School Food Collaborative to provide meals for AP students until July 1. The first set of meals will begin on April 27. The weekly meals will be delivered free of charge directly to the homes of students who enroll in the program.
In order to receive these meals, parents must fill out an online application with this company by April 23. The application can be found on APSB website and the APSB Facebook page and should be filled out by a parent or guardian. Applicants must provide an email, contact phone number, a physical address and information on the number of students in the household. If you miss the initial deadline, you can still sign up by any following Thursday for the next weeks delivery.
The meal kits will be delivered directly to each residence. The program will provide shelf-stable, easily prepared meals for students that attend schools in Allen Parish. Each student will receive seven days of breakfast and lunch and five days of snacks and dinner.
