The Allen Parish sales tax collection report showed mixed results for the month of February 2020. Several agencies reported increases all others reported decreases in collections. Local shopping seemed to take a hit during the month that preceded the COVID-19 pandemic.
Overall collections for the parish were up though. For February of 2019 collections were $1,036,341.93 and 2020’s of the same month were $1,153,041.64 that is an increase of $116,699.71 or 11.26 percent.
Those who saw increases were the Allen Parish School Board No. One and No. Two. They collected $401,970.31 this year compared to last year’s $263,584.96. That is an increase of $138,385.35 or 52.5 percent.
The Town of Kinder collected $44,006.37 this year. Compared to last year’s collections of $43,078.83 that is an increase of $927.54 or 2.15 percent.
The Town of Oberlin collected $$19,116.13 this year compared to last year’s $13,129.75. That is an increase of $$5,986.38 or 45.59 percent.
The Village of Elizabeth collected $12,643.38 for February of 2020 compared to 2019’s collections of $6,740.95 that is an increase of $5,902.43 or 87.56 percent.
The Town of Kinder Library/Sewerage Tax collected $13,202.01 this year compared to last year at this time when they collected $12,923.58. That is an increase of $278.43 or 2.15 percent.
The Village of Reeves collected $5,659.07 that is an increase of $2,692.11 or 90.74 percent from last year’s collections of $2,966.96.
The Allen Parish School Board No. Three collected $207,912.29 in February 2019 compared to the $200,960.17 collected in February 2020. That is a decrease of $6,952.12 or 3.34 percent.
The Allen Parish Police Jury collected $140,672.78 compared to last year’s $145,538.68. That is a decrease of $4,865.90 or 3.34 percent.
The City of Oakdale collected $97,481.47 compared to 2019’s collections of $100,997.81. That is a decrease of $$3,516.34 or 3.48 percent.
The Allen Parish Occupancy Tax collected $4,092.47 for February 2020 that was a $3,796.54 decrease from February 2019’s collections of $7,889.01 or 48.12 percent.
The Allen Parish Tourist Commission collected $12,277.37 that is $11,389.63 less than February 2019’s collections of $23,667 or 48.12 percent.
The Allen Parish Sheriff’s District collected $200,960.11 for the month of February 2020 that is $2,246.31 (or 3.34 percent) less than 2019’s collections of $207,912.11.
