A lot of information about Coronavirus (COVID-19) is coming out daily, and the healthcare industry is quickly absorbing it and making plans for the future.
Chief Executive Officer Jacqueline Costley-Reviel, Allen Parish Community Healthcare and her staff are working to meet the needs of their patients.
She said the governor has sent a mandate down to restrict visitors for patients. “All nonessential visitors and vendors are being asked to not visit the hospital. This is being done to protect our patient population, which is at risk.”
Costley-Reviel said the ER is still open for those who need its services. All of the hospital’s services are open for those who need those services. She said there is a testing sige to determine if one has COVID-19. However, they must have a referral from their primary physician.
Persons with a cough or fever should remain in their home unless they develop breathing problems. If they develop breathing problems – shortness of breath or hard to breath – seek emergency care immediately. Otherwise stay home, take meds and don’t mingle. Take care of yourself unless you are having real problems like breathing, then seek emergency care.
Costley-Reviel thanked the public for its cooperation in advance. She said they appreciate everyone.
“Stay at home indoors. It’s the best thing. This virus does spread rapidly and does transmit easily. Stay out of the public areas. Remember good handwashing and coughing into your sleeves,” she said.
The hospital and its services are there for all who need them. Everyone is just being asked to use common sense so those at-risk groups are protected.
