OBERLIN – The Allen Parish School Board recognized two of its educators who were selected at the parish level as Teachers of the Year.
Tammy Lambright, Fairview High School, was named Elementary School Educator of the Year. Hayley Smith, Kinder High School, was named High School Educator of the Year.
Lambright has been a teacher for 22 years. She is currently teaching second grade ELA at Fairview High School. “She is one of the most loving, caring and compassionate teachers that I know,” wrote one colleague. “She is always willing to share her teaching knowledge, but at the same time is open to other teacher ideas as well.”
Lambright previously taught kindergarten and this is her first year in her present position. Her principal said her commitment to teamwork, academic growth and her students’ well-being that makes her an outstanding educator.
Smith is in her sixth year of education and teaches English II at Kinder High School.
According to her one of her colleagues, “I have worked with many teachers, and Hayley Smith stands out among them. Hayley’s warm personality and rapport with the students are excellent. Her knowledge of her subject matter is exceptional and noticed by students and faculty alike.”
Smith’s principal, Melody LaFleur said, “Hayley is absolutely fantastic. Kinder High School is so fortunate to have her on staff. As her principal, I can attest to her quality of teaching and her high expectations that she sets for all students. As a result, her scores were the highest in our school on the LEAP 2025 last year, and I certainly can foresee growth in her coming years.”
Both educators received the traditional golden apple inscribed with their name and school and a $100 check.
